Early Triumphs and Sunny Finishes: Ferrum Sets the Pace

While most athletes are only just lining up for their first races of the season, several Ferrum athletes have already kicked off their year in spectacular fashion. Highlights include Denise Hiemann’s participation (and overall Age Group win) at Ironman South Africa, as well as strong performances from Michelle, Joris, Quinten, and Niek in Valencia.

For Denise, it was a remarkable winter. With her A-race scheduled as early as March 30th, she had to train right through the winter to be in peak condition at the start line. We watched with admiration as she tackled this challenge with unwavering discipline and motivation. The results speak for themselves: not only was she the fastest female Age Grouper, but she also won with an incredible lead of half an hour over the runner-up! Of course, this also secured her a coveted Kona slot for this year’s World Championship.

For our Valencia crew, the main goal was to enjoy the race-and they certainly did! Everyone crossed the finish line under the sunny skies, and Michelle even claimed third place among the Age Groupers, leaving some pro athletes in her wake.

Meanwhile, the triathlon season has also kicked off in the Netherlands. Last weekend, the first Ferrum athletes enjoyed a longer distance at the Almere 100, and this coming weekend, we’ll see a large group of Ferrum athletes at the start in Brouwersdam. But what we’re looking forward to most is Samorin, where Roos and Piroska are set to shine at the World Championships. Ladies, go for it and enjoy every moment to the fullest!

Ferrum has started the season with a bang-and this is only the beginning.
